Welcome Aboard ROTA Dial-A-Ride

ROTA Dial-A-Ride provides curb to curb demand responsive transportation for seniors age 65 years old and older, and persons with disabilities. ROTA Dial-A-Ride service area covers the cities of Riverbank and Oakdale, Orange Blossom area, and to the Modesto Amtrak Station.


ROTA Dial-A-Ride will continue to be available to those general public users, who live outside 1/4 mile from a ROTA Trolley route.

The rider does not have to be standing at the curb, but should be in a location that allows him/her to see the ROTA Dial-A-Ride when it arrives. The rider should be able to get to the vehicle. If the rider does require more assistance, an attendant may ride for free, if arrangements are made in advance. Arrangements can be made on a case-by case basis for those persons requiring extra assistance.

ROTA Dial-A-Ride service is designed to benefit those persons unable to utilize ROTA Trolley. ROTA Dial-A-Ride operates a shared ride program, and rides will be grouped whenever possible.


How to Use ROTA Dial-A-Ride

To use the service, the rider or his/her representative must make a reservation at least 2 hours in advance by calling (209) 869-7444. TTY/TDD users, use California Relay Service by calling 711. Reservations may be made up to 14 days in advance.

Subscription rides are available to those who need a ride daily, weekly or monthly. You are required to ride ROTA Dial-A-Ride for two complete weeks before being eligible for this service. The subscription service continues automatically until you cancel it.

If you do not need ROTA Dial-A-Ride, please call ROTA Dispatch at least one (1) hour before your scheduled trip. Failure to do so will result in a no-show. A rider may lose their riding privilege for 30 days after three consecutive no shows within a one-year period.


Changes That Have Occurred With ROTA Dial-A-Ride

General public passengers who live within 1/4 of a mile from the ROTA Trolley route, will no longer be able to use ROTA Dial-A-Ride.

ROTA Dial-A-Ride will continue to be available to seniors (age 65 years or older) and persons with disabilities.

General public passengers who live outside 1/4 of a mile from a ROTA Trolley route will be able to continue to use ROTA Dial-A-Ride.

Service for medical trips for ADA passengers will be eliminated. Service to Perko's Cafe at Oakdale Road and Sylvan Avenue is available three times a day, by request only. Fares for this service will be the new local Dial-A-Ride fare and not the zone fare. Service to Modesto Amtrak Station will continue at the zone fare.

Monday-Friday from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
No service is provided on Sunday or on New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day.
Last reservations are taken at 5:00 PM , Monday-Friday and 3:30 PM on Saturday.

Zone Service to Orange Blossom and Modesto Amtrak Station

10-Ride Fast Tickets - No expiration date, good for 10 one way trips on ROTA Dial-A-Ride

Children under 3 accompanied by a paying passenger are FREE . Up to two free children per fare paying passenger. A passenger that is 16 years old or older must accompany children under 9 years of age.

Use exact change only, Drivers do not carry or make change.


Dial-A-Ride Certification

Persons with disabilities and seniors (age 65 and older) are required to fill out an application. Proof of disability from a medical professional or age verification is required in order to obtain an identification card. The rider is required to show the identification card to use ROTA Dial-A-Ride.

Other Policies for Using ROTA Dial-A-Ride

Wheelchairs are required to be in good working order with functional brakes. Our drivers are not allowed to push wheelchairs up or down inclines or over barriers. We encourage wheelchair users to remain in their chair and wear a lap belt during boarding and deboarding, as well as while riding ROTA Dial-A-Ride. All mobility devices will be secured to the bus.

Our drivers will only wait three minutes at each stop for passengers, unless the caller is identified as requiring more time. Please be ready and visible. Drivers are not allowed to leave sight of their bus or enter a private residence or business.

Our drivers are limited to making one (1) trip to your door with packages and bags. Please plan your shopping trip accordingly.

Our drivers are not permitted to make destination changes. If your plans change, please let us know by calling (209) 869-7444 .

ROTA provides free transportation to and from a StaRT bus stop for Jury Duty. You will be required to show your juror summons to the bus driver when boarding. Passengers will transfer to the StaRT Route 60 to continue into Downtown Modesto to the courthouse. Please inform us when making your reservation that you are going to Jury Duty.

Bicycles are allowed on ROTA Dial-A-Ride buses. Please notify the dispatcher when making reservations that you want to bring your bike on board.

ROTA services all of the City of Riverbank, Oakdale, and surrounding unincorporated areas to as far east as Orange Blossom road, as far south as Patterson/Claribel road, as far north as River road. Also, service to Amtrak, and Perko's at Oakdale and Sylvan road in Modesto.
